Our second painting
competition was sponsored by Dark Age Games.
The judges were myself, the previous contest winner Paintacle
and the head honcho of Dark Age, Grafter.
Overall Winner & Best
Forsaken Miniature
Sister Compassion by Joe Videki
Prize - Full set of Limited Edition Dark Age figures by Steve
Buddle and £30 Artemis Black's voucher
Best Dragyri Miniature
Yovanka by Dragonpaint
Prize - Full set of Limited Edition Dark Age figures by Steve
Buddle and £30 Artemis Black's voucher
Judges: This was a major problem for us. We
hadn't agreed on one of the categories so again the overall winner
was down to a majority points decision. The problem possibly lay
in the stark contrast of styles between some of the entries. Some
of which are technically superb, some look like they are better
than the photograph suggests and others go for a more realistic
portrayal. In the end the realism won the day and the Overall
Winner is...
Joe Videki with his realistic Sister Compassion!
Judges: The women ruled the roost as far as
miniature choice was concerned with only 1 male Dragyri being
entered. (And just to set the record straight that entry did
nothing wrong, it was disqualified for the simple reason that I
bought it before the contest ended - It was on Ebay so I couldn't
wait until the contest was over). So the contest itself was an
all-female affair.
It was a close call this one with 2 entries being mulled over both
of which had some excellent freehand. However only 1 can claim the
prize and that winner is...
Dragonpaint with the marvellously decorated
Yovanka!
Best Skarrd Miniature
Tribal Father by Freakbrain
Prize - Full set of Limited Edition Dark Age figures by Steve
Buddle and £30 Artemis Black's voucher
Best Brood Miniature
Gazelle by Skavenbabe
Prize - Full set of Limited Edition Dark Age figures by Steve
Buddle and £30 Artemis Black's voucher
Judges: *grin* For those who thought I was
joking with my mid contest announcement here we are. Of course,
nothing should take away from the entry itself, which has some
nice freehand and strong colour choices. The winner, of course,
is...
Freakbrain with his lonely Father!
Judges: A particularly difficult category to
judge this as all the entrants managed to pick the same figure! In
the end though we decided that one just pipped the others and the
winner is....
Skavenbabe with her magnificent Gazelle!
Bane Leader by Astonia
Death's Device by Bod Models
(Voluntarily disqualified as I bought it before
contest end)
